MCILROY ADDS MBE TO HIS TROPHIES
Rory Mcilroy was named in the New Year’s Honours List of Britain last Thursday along with several other sportsmen. It's a huge honour and achievement for the Northern Irishman.
The reigning US Open champion, Rory Mcilroy received the prestigious Member of the British Empire which is considered to be the very first rung on the Britain’s honours ladder.
Rory Mcilroy won the much coveted US Open in June at the Congressional course with a low score of 16-under-par, two hundred and sixty eight - a record low score. His achievement of being able to win the first major of his career was made all the more memorable because of his heart-breaking collapse in the very last round of the US Masters. This victory was sweet and showed that he has nerves of steel to go on and close out the tournament.
Rory Mcilroy commented that he was delighted to have been included in the Queen’s New Year Honours List and considered it to be an honour to be included with other such great achievers.
Rory Mcilroy is considered by fans all over the world to be the next big thing, and after the Major win and the MBE has the confidence to go on and fulfil his potential.
He is currently out of action whilst he has some ankle sprain treatment, but should be back to wow-ing the masses in the British Open.
